Apply for a DigiD

Apply for your DigiD at digid.nl/en/aanvragen_buitenland. Important: Remember your username and password.

Did you receive an error during the application? Your personal data may not be correctly registered in the Non-residents Records Database (RNI). In that case, you’ll need to update your information in the RNI first.

Make an appointment

After applying for DigiD, you will receive a desk code (baliecode) via email and SMS. You must present this code to us within 30 days. Make an appointment to do this at the RNI desk.

Bring with you:

• The desk code (baliecode)
• A valid passport or ID card (with the same document number used during the DigiD application)
• Your citizen service number (BSN)
• The mobile phone used during your DigiD application
• Are you applying for DigiD on behalf of a family member, such as a child? Make sure they come with you to the appointment.

Activate your DigiD

At your appointment, you will receive an activation code. Go to digid.nl/activeren within 21 days to activate your account using this code.

Tip: Try to activate your DigiD at the desk immediately after your appointment. If you encounter any issues, you can ask for help on the spot.
