Becoming a Dutch citizen
You want to become a Dutch citizen and are registered with the municipality Nijmegen. Apply for citizenship via option or naturalisation. Make an appointment first. Call 0031 24 329 90 00.
What you need to know
You gain Dutch citizenship bij option or naturalisation.
During your first visit to the Stadswinkel we will check whether you meet the requirements and you'll get more information about the procedure:
- If you are considered for Dutch citizenship via option, the municipality determines the outcome of your request
- If you are considered for Dutch citizenship via naturalisation, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) determines the outcome of your request
What you should bring with you
- Valid passport which mentions your nationality
- Valid residence permit
- Sometimes you'll need other documents. Discuss this when you call about your appointment
